Kate Merrill
Author
Kate is a passionate and prolific writer who has published a dozen books, mostly romantic suspense. After penning two traditional romances, she created the Diana Rittenhouse Mystery series (5 books) featuring a Yankee real estate agent who begins a new life in the south. To lend authenticity to these titles, Kate obtained her broker’s license and sold real estate. Then Amanda Rittenhouse, Diana’s daughter, took over the mystery series, allowing Kate to develop a lesbian character with whom she closely identifies. (4 books, more on the way). Coming soon: two stand-alone suspense titles. She has also written a short story collection, a non-fiction title about Addie James, an American folk artist, and edited a collection of poetry by Herbert Merrill called North Shore. (Kate’s father was a renowned poet in the mid Twentieth Century.)
Kate (along with her wife Susan) is also a longtime art gallery owner, first in suburban Philadelphia, and then in Davidson, NC. The galleries offered original art, custom framing and inspired the book FRAMED. Kate holds a BFA, with concentrations in sculpture and ceramics, as well as a degree in English Literature.
Kate and Susan live on a lake in North Carolina. When Kate is not writing or creating driftwood sculpture, she enjoys swimming, boating, playing with her cats, and allowing her strong-headed golden retriever to take her for a walk.
